Afrormosia
Latin name: Pericopsis elata
Origin: Africa
Characteristics: Blonde to golden color, often with interlocking grain and sometimes a subtle bee’s wing or broken figure. It has long been considered a Teak substitute. Long lengths are often difficult. Afrormosia is only available with a valid cites permit.
Uses: Has been used extensively in the Marine trade. Currently used more in fine furniture and architectural millwork applications.
