Birch, Kerelian Burl

Latin name: Betula verrucosa Ehrh., Betula pubescens

Origin: Northern Europe

Characteristics: Not a typical burl or burl pattern. This comes from the trunk wood at the very base of the tree. Birch Burls are formed from knobs (eyes) growing under the surface.  It is produced in both sliced and rotary.  Limited in availability and limited in dimension.

Uses: High quality architectural woodwork.
