Birch, White
Latin name: Betula verrucoas, Betula pubescens
Origin: North America and Europe
Characteristics: Yellowish white in color, with brownish red heartwood in bigger logs. Most logs have a subtle mottle type figure. Generally separated and sold sorted for color as all white, natural or red. Market demand is mostly for white. Sliced veneer accounts for very little of the birch market. Much of what is cut is rotary.
Uses: Architectural woodwork and flush doors.
