Latin name: Guarea cedrata Pellegr.
Origin: Africa
Characteristics: Heartwood is reddish-brown to orange-brown, intensely darkening to a deep red-brown. Resembles Mahogany but is in the cedar family and thus gives of an aroma. Figured logs are available in fiddleback and in pommele. Sometimes difficult to work with because it develops resin within the pores.
Uses: High quality architectural woodwork and fine furniture.
