Cedar, Yellow
Latin name: Chamaecyparis nootkatensis
Origin: Alaska, Pacific Coast of British Columbia and Oregon
Characteristics: Alaskan Yellow Cedar this veneer is light-yellow in color. This specie is very slow growing because of the climate the trees grow in and thus has a very tight grain pattern. Demand is for the vertical grain. Hard to come by because of short harvesting season.
Uses: Architectural millwork, doors and in marine construction.
