Latin name: Castanea dentata
Origin: North American
Characteristics: Due to the Chestnut blight introduced in the 40’s which killed over 3 billion trees, veneers found are usually old in age or grown through grafting. Chestnut has a warm rustic appeal, with tan coloration. Very hard to find panel length flitches.
Uses: Architectural woodwork and fine furniture.
