Latin name: Astronium fraxinifolium

Origin: South America

Characteristics: Medium brown to gold wood with irregular black and brown streaks. Grain is irregular and interlocked and streaking can create a barber pole type appearance. Looks very rich under a finish. Some logs have a fair amount of pips or pins. Availability is limited because of lack of demand.

Uses:  Architectural woodwork and fine furniture.
