Latin name: Liquidambar styraciflua

Origin: South-eastern United States

Characteristics: Sapwood is cream-colored and uniform looking, while the heartwood is reddish to dark-brown color with wisps of olive - grey which can alternate creating a beautiful marbling effect. Heartwood many times has a silky sheen. It is a relatively soft wood but has demand in the European market.

Uses:  Architectural woodwork and kitchen cabinets.
