Kingwood
Latin name: Dalbergia cearensis
Origin: South America
Characteristics: Heartwood is violet-brown to black with dark streaks of violet-brown, black, or golden-yellow. Limitations in this species are generally in dimension. It is difficult to find long logs with no defects. As a result Kingwood is often used as an accent wood or for inlays. The wood is extremely hard and durable.
Use: Inlays and furniture.
