Latin name: Shorea acuminata
Origin: SE Asia
Characteristics: Heartwood is medium to dark reddish-brown, with white resin streaks. Grain is interlocked with a coarse texture. Generally not thought of as a face veneer and generally rotary produced for backing or inner ply’s. Some high quality logs are sliced and generally produced as quarter cut.
Use: Furniture, doors and backing sheets.
