Latin name: Baillonella toxisperma
Origin: West Africa
Characteristics: Heartwood color is light reddish-brown to light red, sometimes with a grayish tinge. Very similar to Makore and the specie is often sold interchangeably with Makore although it is generally lighter in color. In sliced veneer the demand is generally for quarter cut.
Use: Architectural woodwork and fine furniture.
