Origin: Africa and Burma
Characteristics: Heartwood is lustrous coral-red to red-brown, even orange-brown and highly decorative. Flitches need intensive cooking and veneers must be completely covered when stored as wood darkens quickly. Freshly cut the color is remarkably brilliant.Most is quarter cut.
Use: Architectural woodwork and inlays.
