Latin name: Dalbergia latifolia
Origin: Asia
Characteristics: Heartwood is often described as either the “rusty” type or the dark purple type. Color is vibrant and can be golden-brown to purple-brown with dark brown to purple-brown lines. The contrast of the dark growth rings give the wood a dramatic elegant appearance. Demand is generally for quarter grain but plain sliced is available. Wood is heavy and dense.
Use: Architectural woodwork, fine furniture and store fixtures.
