Tamo
Latin name: Fraxinus mandschurica
Origin: Southeast Asia
Characteristics: Heartwood is light-brown in color with hints of grey and olive tones. The species is similar to Japanese Sen in texture and is often thought to be the same species. Logs are sliced and rotary produced often creating an intense “peanut shell” blister type figure. Long lengths are often difficult. Sapwood is almost white and is clearly defined.
Use: Architectural woodwork and fine furniture.
