Zebrawood

Latin name: Microberlinia brazzavillensis

Origin: West Africa

Characteristics: Heartwood is off white to light grey with very distinct dark brown stripes creating a “zebra” pattern. A hard wood that tends to have some tension making it difficult to splice unless the veneer is flat or any buckle is pressed out. Demand is significantly more for the quarter grain than plain sliced. Plain sliced logs are available but are limited. A limited amount of logs have been available in FSC pure.

Use: Architectural woodwork, fine furniture and dashboard paneling in automotive industry.
